A Bit About Alli...
I am currently a graduate student intern completing a Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling program at Lewis & Clark College. I received my bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy. I believe finding your values and recognizing how you spend your time when you are not working can have a huge impact on the quality of your life. In the nine years I have done this work, I noticed people’s deep need to be heard and gain tools to make their life better. I have a strong focus on relationship issues, anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and sexuality. I have worked in many mental health spaces and always honored in being alongside people’s journeys in life.
I believe that we all have innate capacity to grow through our difficulties. I hope to create a space where you feel heard, seen, cared for, and welcomed to explore your lived experience more. I believe in life, sometimes we develop patterned ways of going about our days. Some moments in our life, those patterns are helpful and get us through, and sometimes it is time to let go of those patterns to bring new ways of being into our experience. I believe counseling is a beautiful tool to help gain insight on certain patterns that are no longer helping us and create compassion and strength to look at why it may not be working and see what possible changes you can implement in your life to help create a life in line with your values and your authentic self.
As a counselor in training, I am an integrative therapist who wants to dismantle old patterns and foster sustainable change. My therapeutic approach is a blend of psychodynamic, attachment, and Third wave CBT in my sessions. I explore how these patterns originate from unconscious motivations and unresolved conflicts from our past. By bringing these dynamics into awareness we can gain insight into underlying causes and how that protects us from emotional distress. From there, we work on mindfulness and acceptance of these patterns without judgement, fostering psychological flexibility. By clarifying personal values and committing to actions aligned with these values, we can create new patterns that promote growth and well-being.
