A Bit About Brianna...
Hello, my name is Brianna Hughes (she/her). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon. My passion for working with clients is based on the foundation that everyone deserves to live well. My therapeutic approach is multicultural, trauma-informed and feminist, while incorporating cognitive-behavioral and narrative therapy. While using narrative therapy, my practice recognizes the traumatic impact of systems of oppression and how this affects the wellbeing of individuals, families and marginalized communities.
I earned a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Sciences from Northern Arizona University. In my graduate work, I also became certified in Trauma Response Services from the Trauma Response Institute. This specialized training allows me to offer focused services to help with post-traumatic stress prevention, body mindfulness and intervention.
The client populations I enjoy focusing on experience anxiety, depression, disordered eating, post-traumatic stress disorder from systems of oppression (racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, capitalism, fatphobia, etc), grief, abusive family/romantic relationships, suicidal ideation and self-harm. By using narrative therapy, I encourage my clients to empower themselves and amplify their voice for all concerns regarding their health and identity.
