Destinee Hooks

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at The University of West Alabama. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science from The University of Alabama. I am also a certified Registered Behavioral Therapist since 2019.

 

I am passionate about advocating for children and their families in relation to social economic challenges as well as mental and physical disabilities. I have a background in inclusion consulting in diverse communities and I strive and advocate for inclusiveness and community support as a counselor.

 

I am passionate about how our behaviors contribute to our emotions and actions. My scope of counseling focuses on Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Solution- Focused Brief Therapy. Therefore, my practice involves supporting an individual and/or family with navigating the complexity of their emotional dynamic and how it directly relates to their behaviors. I also focus on creating a safe and empowering space to promote emotional growth and validity.
