
A Bit About Kelsey...
Hello! My name is Kelsey Somppi and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington, Oregon, and Colorado. I identify as a female and a woman of color with she/her pronouns. I have my Master's degree in Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy from George Fox University and my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Washington State University Vancouver. I am also registered as a Child Mental Health Specialist, a Registered Play Therapist, and a Clinical Supervisor.
I specialize in therapy and counseling for couples in all types of relationships as well as children and families. My primary focus is treating trauma including sexual assault, physical abuse, verbal abuse and domestic violence. I have a passion for assisting clients in working through conflicts, building better relationships, and overcoming trauma.
I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have other specialized training in trauma, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am also Level IFS Level 2 Trained and Level 2 Gottman trained. Other approaches I use are Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy.
Before entering the mental health field, I served in the United States Navy for seven years as a Hospital Corpsman. I have also been blessed with two children of my own, and have been married to my husband for the past 16 years.
