A Bit About Mariah...
Hi there - I’m Mariah, I am a Professional Counselor Associate in the states of Oregon and Washington. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western New England University and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from American International College. I work with individuals 18+ and focuses of mine include eating disorders, boundary setting, struggles within career, issues in young adulthood, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal challenges in relationships, big life transitions and existential questions.
I take a feminist approach to therapy and believe in the importance of looking at personal issues within a societal and cultural perspective. I believe in finding the balance between personal accountability and also acknowledging that there are external factors that have created barriers, shaped our world views and shaped beliefs about ourselves.
I take an integrated approach to therapy, not relying on one theory or type of intervention, but frequently draw from Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Mindfulness-based Cognitive therapy with an overall focus on building self-compassion, values-driven decision making, and challenging limiting beliefs. I have a background in fitness and nutrition and have received training in these areas. I enjoy being able to bring these into therapy when appropriate to create a more holistic approach to mental health.
