A Bit About Mariah...
Hi there - I’m Mariah (she/her), I am a Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Oregon. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western New England University and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from American International College. I come from a background in nonprofits and community mental health work.
I enjoy working with people experiencing big life transitions, such as, grieving the loss of a loved one, moving, or changing jobs. Similarly, I enjoy working with people who feel stuck and are looking to make big life changes, dealing with existential crisis, the quarter-life or mid-life crisis, or feelings of uncertainty or confusion about one’s path or identity. Additionally, I love working with interpersonal challenges in relationships of all kinds: setting boundaries, exploring new ways of communication, and building healthier, stronger relationships where both people feel fulfilled. Other focuses of mine include: anxiety, stress, disordered eating, body image, and self-esteem.
Outside of work, I am a passionate outdoorsy person. I spend as much time as I can camping, hiking, running, backpacking and being near any body of water. When I’m not outside, I can be found cooking, writing, or listening to a detective or mystery audiobook.
I think the most important part of therapy is connecting with your therapist in a way that creates safety and comfort. My goal is not to steer clients in any particular direction, but instead to facilitate a space where we are comfortable enough to be uncertain, explore different ideas, and build awareness. Through this, I hope that it allows my clients to uncover their own path and what works for them.
