A Bit About Mariah...

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western New England University and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from American International College. I am currently working on my M.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in sport and exercise psychology from University of North Carolina - Greensboro. I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. I primarily work with adult women and my focuses include eating disorders and other food/exercise struggles, trauma, boundary setting, struggles within career, perfectionism, burnout, and lifestyle changes.

I take a feminist approach to therapy and believe in the importance of looking at personal issues within a societal and cultural perspective. I believe in finding the balance between personal accountability and also acknowledging that there are external factors that have created barriers, shaped our world views and shaped beliefs about ourselves.

I don’t rely on one theory or type of intervention. I frequently draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness interventions and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Common themes in therapy with me include self-compassion, behavior change, values-driven decision making, and challenging limiting beliefs.
