Rhoni Figueroa

A bit About Rhoni...

I’m a graduate student intern at Seattle University, working toward my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Alongside my degree, I’m pursuing a Sex Therapy Certificate through Antioch University to deepen my understanding of human sexuality, intimacy, and the nuanced ways trauma can shape our relationships. I provide counseling to individuals and couples aged 13 and above, meeting each person or partnership exactly where they are on their journey.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science with a Nutrition emphasis, and my goal is to bring a holistic lens to counseling, recognizing that our physical health, nutritional habits, and mental well-being are deeply interconnected. Several years ago, I was trained as a victim advocate for survivors of sexual assault across all genders and ages. Those experiences taught me the power of truly listening, validating lived experience, and offering compassionate guidance when someone feels most vulnerable. It also inspired my journey to become a counselor.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic, person-centered principles - I passionately believe in the concept of "unconditional positive regard" and I want to meet you where you are in your healing journey. I also draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy to build emotion-regulation and distress-tolerance skills. My interests are in supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relational concerns, PTSD, weight concerns, self-esteem, and eating disorders.

I’m committed to a sex-positive, trauma-informed stance that honors choice and agency, especially for LGBTQ+ clients, survivors of trauma, and those navigating body image concerns. I bring a feminist and multicultural lens to my work, remaining mindful of how power, culture, and identity shape our experiences. I also have a passion for supporting people recovering from religious trauma, offering a safe space to question beliefs, rebuild trust, and reclaim personal autonomy.

I believe my role as a counselor is to walk alongside you, holding space for your story, offering tools and insights, and supporting you as you navigate toward healing, growth, and self-compassion. I’m honored to be part of your path and look forward to collaborating with you as you reclaim your strength, resilience, and authentic voice.
