A Bit About Serene...
Hi there, and welcome! My name is Serene Singharaj (she/her). I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Seattle University pursuing a Master's Degree. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, along with minors in Human Development and Women’s Studies from Washington State University Vancouver.

My identity as a Southeast Asian American woman and second-generation descendant of war refugees greatly shapes my counseling practice. I understand and hold compassion for the complexity of navigating multicultural identities, familial and societal pressures, and intergenerational trauma. With this background, I have a passion for working alongside BIPOC and other marginalized communities who struggle to find their place within the dominant society. As a counselor, I strive to remain culturally competent and sensitive to your diverse and unique experiences by creating a safe, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental environment.
My practice draws from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Relational-Cultural Therapy. This means I support you within the context of your social/cultural identities and relationships to promote empowerment, emotional well-being, authenticity, and intentional meaning in your life. I also aim to provide a space where you can explore different parts of yourself and all of your emotions safely and deeply, no matter how big or small. Counseling looks different for everyone, so I hope to be a collaborative part of your healing journey!

Outside of the counseling space, I am a matcha enthusiast, an avid reader of fantasy and horror, and a lover of baking and crocheting!
